Privacy Policy

BitMatch, Inc. ("BitMatch," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the BitMatch mobile application ("App"). Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the App, you consent to the practices described herein.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

(a) Account Information: When you register, we collect your email address, display name, username, date of birth, and profile photo.

(b) Profile Data: Information you voluntarily provide, including your bio, dietary preferences, favorite cuisines, food allergies or restrictions, and location (city-level).

(c) Food Preferences & Activity: Your taste profile data, restaurant ratings and reviews, food posts, liked content, taste match interactions, and messaging history.

(d) Photos: Food photographs and profile images you upload to the App.

(e) Usage Data: Information about how you interact with the App, including features used, pages viewed, search queries, time spent on screens, and actions taken.

(f) Device Information: Device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers, IP address, browser type, mobile network information, and app version.

(g) Log Data: Server logs that may include your IP address, device information, access times, and pages viewed.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

(a) Matching Algorithm: To calculate taste compatibility scores, generate taste match recommendations, and connect you with users who share similar food preferences.

(b) Feed Personalization: To curate your content feed based on your food interests, dining habits, and engagement patterns.

(c) Analytics & Improvement: To analyze usage trends, monitor App performance, diagnose technical issues, and improve our features and services.

(d) Communication: To send you service-related notices, respond to support requests, and deliver notifications you have opted into.

(e) Safety & Security: To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, security incidents, and violations of our Terms of Service.

(f) Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, or enforceable governmental requests.

3. Ai Processing

BitMatch uses artificial intelligence to analyze food photographs for nutritional estimation, ingredient identification, and meal categorization, and to review user-submitted content (photos and captions) for safety and policy compliance. When you use these features, your photo and caption are transmitted securely (via TLS) to our servers and processed by our AI service provider (Anthropic PBC) on our behalf. Images are downscaled before transmission, are used solely to generate the analysis or moderation result, and are not used by our provider to train AI models. The resulting metadata (such as identified ingredients, estimated nutritional values, and moderation decisions) may be stored in connection with your posts if you choose to share them.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

(a) Service Providers: We may share information with third-party vendors who perform services on our behalf, such as hosting, analytics, and customer support. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your information and may only use it to provide services to BitMatch.

(b) Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of BitMatch, our users, or the public.

(c) Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change in ownership or control.

(d) With Your Consent: We may share information with third parties when you have given us explicit consent to do so.

(e) Aggregated Data: We may share aggregated, de-identified data that cannot reasonably be used to identify you for research, analytics, or business purposes.

5. Data Retention &Amp; Deletion

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the App's services. If you choose to delete your account, we will delete all of your personal data, including your profile information, posts, photos, ratings, messages, and taste match history, within thirty (30) days of your deletion request. Certain information may be retained for a limited period as necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. Anonymized and aggregated data that cannot be used to identify you may be retained indefinitely.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

(a) Access: You have the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.

(b) Rectification: You have the right to request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal information.

(c) Deletion: You have the right to request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain legal exceptions.

(d) Portability: You have the right to request a copy of your data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format.

(e) Objection: You have the right to object to certain processing of your personal information.

(f) Restriction: You have the right to request restriction of processing of your personal information under certain circumstances.

7. Children'S Privacy

The App is not intended for use by children under the age of thirteen (13). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take immediate steps to delete such information. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@bitmatch.co.

8. Security Measures

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include, but are not limited to: encryption of data in transit using TLS/SSL protocols; encryption of sensitive data at rest; secure authentication mechanisms; regular security assessments and penetration testing; access controls limiting employee access to personal data on a need-to-know basis; and monitoring systems to detect potential security incidents. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. International Data Transfers

If you access the App from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where our servers are located and our central database is operated. The data protection laws of the United States may differ from those of your jurisdiction. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States. Where required by applicable law, we will implement appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, to protect your information during international transfers.

10. Policy Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the App via an in-app notification, or by sending an email to the address associated with your account, at least seven (7) days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the App after the effective date of any revised Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.

11. Cookies &Amp; Tracking

The App may use local storage and similar technologies to enhance your experience, remember preferences, and collect usage data. You can manage these preferences through your device settings.

12. Third-Party Links

The App may contain links to third-party websites or services, including restaurant websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of any third-party services you access.
